A Legacy of Fun & Friendship
Our journey began in the spring of 1981 at a tool design bench. Earl Kinsey and Roy Winter, Jr., both employees at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, decided to bring square dancing to the West County area. With the support of their wives, Lorraine and Ginny, and several "angels" from the Missouri Promenaders who helped us get off the ground, we held our very first dance in April 1981.
The Story of Our Club
We found our first home in the fellowship room at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Creve Coeur. Despite being told that Monday night dances would never succeed, we proved the doubters wrong. Under the leadership of our first caller, Earl Kinsey, we quickly grew into a bona fide club and joined the Greater St. Louis square dance community. From the beginning, we have always been a group that emphasizes "Fun, Fellowship, Food, and Frivolity."
Throughout the 1980s and 90s, we were a fixture in the local scene. We performed at the 1987 VP Fair on national television and traveled to National Conventions and regional festivals, always bringing our signature enthusiasm along with us.
Growth and Change
As our membership grew, we eventually outgrew our original room. In 2007, after 25 years at St. Timothy’s, we relocated to the gymnasium at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chesterfield. Over the years, we’ve been proud to host many featured national callers, graduate numerous new dancers from our classes, and earn the "We Done It" award more than 25 times.
Coming Home
When we were finally able to reopen after the pandemic in 2021, we found the perfect opportunity to return to our roots. We moved back to our original home at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, returning our dances to our original home in a new and improved fellowship hall.
Today, we continue to honor the vision Earl and Roy had back in 1981. We remain dedicated to providing an atmosphere of friendship, fun, and acceptance. New students at a first lesson and seasoned dancers alike will find a relaxed, welcoming environment. We want everyone to enjoy the dance with us.
